The first Wednesday night VCL race was well attended and Victoria Wheelers - OBB had fantastic representation in the races. In the "A" race, there were 6 Vic. Wheelers - OBB racers. Scott Martin, Tom Skinner, Jon Benskin, Mick Bryson, Trever MacKenzie and Gavin Eaton. The A Race had 17 riders line up at the start, and it was fast right from the gun. After about 5 of 12 laps the lead group was down to about 13 or 15 riders. A few guys took flyers throughout the race, but with 3 laps to go, the lead group was all together. Starting the last lap Cody Canning accelerated over the top of the hill and strung out the field pretty quickly. It was flat out around the last lap and into the finish. Curtis Dearden from Russ Hays Racing took the win, Scott Martin from Vic Wheelers-OBB was second and rounding out the podium was Bailey McKnight from Red Truck Racing. Other Wheelers-OBB finishes:
6-Tom Skinner
8-Jon Benskin
11-Mick Bryson
14-Gavin Eaton
15-Trever MacKenzie

In addition...
'B' Group had only one OBB-Wheeler with a decent finish. Erik Evans placed 17th.
'C' Group had a more impressive turn out with 3 Wheeler's in attendance. Layne Nadeau grabbed 1st place and lead a strong group throughout the race. They had a lead group of 3 riders for majority of the race and Layne celebrated a solo finish - see photos. Despite the cold weather and almost ditching out and heading for home at the start line Katie Rushton grabbed 4th place in C and 1st overall in the women's C category. I myself (Kayla Vandermolen, if you couldn't guess that by my discrete screen name) placed 10th in C category and had a really fun time.
Good turn out! and I'm sure we're all glad the rain held off.
With all the guys in A group racing as well (congrats on the amazing finishes boys!) The OBB-Wheeler's really made a presence out there.
