Overcast skies with the chance rain (definite pain) was on the forecast for the third 2016 VCL at Caleb. The Wheelers fielded a 7-man contingent of Eugene, Geoff, Matt, Ian (post TC10k), Stephane, Andrew and Mick. During pre-race caffeination the team hatched out some key concepts for the 16 lap race: aggressive, attentive, and intelligent while playing to each riders individual strengths. The A group rolled out with almost 30 riders and things never really let up all race from the Wheelers crew. On the gas marking RH moves, countering, and manufacturing our own attacks had the guys control the race. Unfortunately the team lost Eugene to a flat tire about mid-way, this quite literally took air out of us. The 'control role' became quite evident when with 2 laps to go RH boss Johnny Watkin yelled at his troops to "Get CONTROL of the race!" In the closing laps Stephane and Matt did incredible work to reel in some RH moves and produce a few of our own. On bell lap Matt brought things together into the small hill where Andrew went all-in to string it out into the back stretch. RH came by late on the back straight with 3 guys, Geoff aptly caught onto the train which has leaving the station for the finishing climb. To everyone's amaze young Tripleshotter Riley laid down a monster finishing kick to come from 10th wheel for the win. Good times on our little island in the sun.

Next up: Windsor Park May 1st
